Sant Esteve Choir

Choir

Founded in 1974, the choir is formed by about thirty members between the ages of 11 and 18. It has collaborated in choral symphony productions  (The Planets by G. Holst, L’Alta Naixença del Rei en Jaume by R. Gerhard, Faust Scenen by R. Schumann, Mozart’s Thamos, Britten’s Sant Nicolau, etc.) together with orchestras like Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, The National Orchestra Of Catalonia, Solistes de Catalunya, the Orquestra de Cambra de Vila-seca, the Orquestra de Cervera, and the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España.

It has been conducted by A. Ros-Marbà, S. Mas, F.P. Decker, L.A. García Navarro, E. Colomer, M. Valdivieso, J. Casas, L. Heltay, M. Guinand, and others. Apart from Catalonia, it has performed and recorded for radio and televisión around Spain, Italy, Germany, France, England, Belgium, and Mexico. The choir has participated in recovering the oratorio Judita Triumphans by Vivaldi together with the orchestra La Principessa Filosofa in Torroella de Montgrí.

Its repertoire consists of works ranging from the Renassaince to 20th century composers. It also performs traditional Catalan and Spanish compositions, plus others from other countries of origin and some adaptations of popular works.

The current conductor is Charo García.
